It is known that the recidivism rates usually fluctuate between 40% and 60%, approximately, in some European countries such the Netherlands, France, Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. Often, this recidivism rate is related to the difficulty encountered by ex-inmates in re-integrating into society, who face a range of social, economic and personal challenges that tend to become obstacles to a crime-free lifestyle. Thus, Coding-OUT project is expected to help break the cycle of incarceration by teaching inmates coding skills that can significantly increase their chances of employment after release.
